Thanksgiving Day

Since I know that I won't be on tomorrow, I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. This is a time to be thankful for what you have, for your friends and for your family. I will be working, due to black Friday sales starting at 10pm. One of my biggest thanks is that I have a job, and will be starting a new one on December 7th (fingers crossed due to paperwork complications). Things are starting to look slightly up, so hopefully it stays that way.

This past weekend was the FFF&F event. It was a great time to spend with people, and to work on projects. on the negative, my back wouldn't stop the spasm issue that I've been having for a few days,  so I couldn't take the fencing class, but I was able to take an embroidery class and a class on documentation. I was also able to get a huge chunk of my second sock done. I'm thinking that I might make a new one, this time in authentic blue and white for myself, and also in a size that will fit me. This first one was in colors that I had and on the pattern scale. I also want to make a set of Norwegian over sleeves, and also a pair of matching gloves and a hat. I think it will look really cool all together. A life goal of mine is to be able to make as complete as possible whole knitted outfits from the time periods that we study. Not all articles of clothing were knitted of course, but for the ones that I can document, I would love to create. Hopefully I can find a house big enough for my collection one day, lol.

Well off to work I go...hopefully I'll be able to stay dry since its currently pouring...I hope everyone has a very happy thanksgiving and until later...

Christmas preperations ...

Christmas is only 50 days away. Since I'm going to be making many of the presents that we give this year, thats not very long for me to work my magic. I have a lot to do including making two snoods for my sister-in-law, making a NY Yankees yamachka and fingerless gloves for my sister. sadly, that means all my other projects have to sit off to the side, but that won't be for too long. Next year, I think I will make this a year long project so that I don't procrastinate like I normally do.

Not too many events between now and the new year luckily. Since QRC is over for the fall, we only have the FFF&F with our local group, and then kingdom twelfth night at the start of the new year. IT will be nice to slow down, pack and get ready for the new job and moving in that amount of time. I always really look forward to the FFF&F event. Its a great time to learn new things and spend time with friends. I'm not sure if we are going to day trip it this year or not, but I will enjoy it in either capacity....

As for QRC this past weekend, I didn't do too bad. I won about 5, lost 7, but I took out a white scarf and held my own for my first QRC. hopefully next time I can do better and have just as much fun.

not too much to say, other then I better get back to work!

until later,

I can never complain about being bored...

Hello everyone,
A lot has been going on lately. An unexpected snow storm as moved my cranky behind into hyper drive trying to get ready for winter. Due to my joint issues and low tolerance for the weather, I made myself a pair of fingerless gloves. I made up my own pattern, forming them to fit snugly to my hands. I'm thinking about starting my own etsy account to start selling some things, so lets see where that leads us...
This Saturday is QRC, or Queen's Rapier Championship, where the fencing champion will be chosen for the next six months. In the beginning I wasn't planning on entering, but since I'm going (and a few people decided to twist my arm), I might as well attempt. I don't plan on doing very well, but I will meet some new people, and hopefully learn something! I made this belt favor for Jehan to wear when he is fencing. For my badge, I am planning on using this as my mark. Its simple, so hopefully it will pass.

I have continued to make sure that I am as busy as ever. Not including my bag that I am working on, I have accepted a full time job in my field. It is about an hour from where I am staying, but Jehan and I will move as soon as we can afford it. Just knowing I have a full time job has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. The next big thing I have to worry about now is Christmas, so the creation of things will begin!

My next big event will not be for a few more weeks yet. It is knowing as the FFF&F. It is a big fiber event in the local area, and I always look forward to it. I have also been diving more and more into heraldry and creation of badges and devices for people. One of my future goals is to be what is called a book herald. I am hoping it helps me increase my drawling ability and also knowledge into family devices. Well, I must get going for I have a few my errands to run. I hope everyone has a few great days, and i"ll post sunday with the results of what occured at QRC

Until then...
Always,
